Description

Carménère, a grape named for its carmine color.
Once flourished in France’s Bordeaux where it was used to produce the deep-red wines of Médoc.
It seemed to have disappeared after phylloxera devastated European vineyards in the late 1800s.
It was secretly flourishing far away in Chile, where it had been taken by French winemakers along with other Bordeaux rootstock.
